I was wondering if anyone had some advice on the best way to get a new barrel pin installed in my MP5 kit.
I have a new RCM trunnion on order after making an attempt to remove the old barrel pin/barrel from the used one from my kit. Needless to say I now have a great paperweight for my office.
My biggest problem was trying to secure the trunnion in place on my drill press, and also in my hydraulic press. There are several great posts by the masters that show what diameter end mills and drill bits to use for removal and installing, etc., but I could not find anything on the best way to secure and keep the trunnion from rotating while drilling/milling the new hole and also when pressing the new pin in. I am concerned that my hole will not end up in the correct location on the bottom side of the trunnion, and the assembly goes flying while trying to press the pin in.
And when pressing the new pin in, does anyone have some ideas on a reducer for my 12 ton press that will safely scale down the 1' punch to something close to the 5mm diameter of the barrel pin?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
